This article in The Nation made me think about the idea of the Democratic Party nominating so-called pro-life candidates for office in places where a pro-choice candidate has little chance of success. The article, which strongly opposes the idea, discussed the mayoral candidacy of Heath Mello who was supported by Bernie Sanders even though he has a long history of voting to restrict access to abortion.
What do you think? Should the Democratic Party nominate so-called pro-life candidates to try and win more races? I’ll share my thoughts in the comments section. I want some of you to go first.
