This personal update contains plenty of good news.
This past week was the best week of work I have had since starting with the City of Portland. I’m more optimistic than ever that I will wind up making the kind of difference I knew I could make when I got this job. If all goes as I now expect, I will be able to start sharing some interesting successes here in the future.
The combination of steroids and Cytopoint is working well for Ufi. He isn’t symptom-free, but I would say the last month has been the best he’s had in many months.
While my sleeping still isn’t where I want it to be, I have had some great night sleeps lately. For the first time in what seems like forever, I experienced getting a deep sleep for more than a night or two. The feelings I took with me through the days, the production I achieved, and the energy I had have convinced me even more of the value in my war with insomnia.
I think I got better sleep, because I’m prioritizing sleep. If I had to choose between sleep and waking up to exercise, I chose sleep.
Last weekend, I bought an adjustable bed. I will admit to wondering about the sense behind spending that much on a bed, But I know how critical sleep is to functioning. It will be interesting to see how much of a difference a high-end bed and mattress will make in my sleep.
Later today, Mom and Eve are taking Barb to the coast to celebrate her birthday. My contribution is to stay home and love all the animals.
Happy birthday, Barb. I love you!
That’s all for now. I hope everyone is doing well.
