Personal Update for November 2, 2018

This update has news about Ufi, Emma, my job, and some needed home improvements.

Sadly, I have to report Ufi is sick again. He has another skin infection. He’s on antibiotics and we have doubled his dose of steroids.

Ufi is such a great friend and worker. I hate seeing him almost constantly suffering. Every time I think we have the medicine right and his symptoms under control, my good feelings about it never last.

Now, we are going to try to keep him off of grass as much as possible. That means no more walks around the neighborhood with Emma and Scorpio.

Speaking of Emma, her hematoma seems to be improving. With a little luck, she will be able to avoid surgery.

Work is going very well. The last couple of weeks have been the most enjoyable I’ve had in my job. I’m very much looking forward to the next year. I honestly believe a year from now we will have accomplished some cool things.

When I bought this house, we knew there were a few things that needed work. Recently, I have begun addressing some of them. Today, I found out the problems with the leaky gutters can only be fixed by a complete gutter replacement. Since the leaks have already caused a bit of dry rot in one place, I don’t have a choice.

The good news here is that once the new gutter system is in place, it should last for 25 or 30 years. The new system will also be much easier to clean.

The bad news is, of course, is getting the new gutter system will cost much more than I was expecting. So, I’m not sure I will go ahead with adding more insulation to the attic and putting some in the crawl space.

Tuesday is election day. You can’t overestimate how critical this election has become. Please vote for Democrats.

That’s what’s new in my world. I hope all of you enjoy your weekend.

I'd love to hear from you.
