Personal Updates for June 28, 2019

Last week, I had the pleasure of attending the National ADA Symposium. The annual conference brings people working in the disability field together to learn from and network with each other. I really enjoyed the conference. I hope I get to go again next year. I came back from the conference energized and excited to use what I have learned.

I had my eye surgery nearly a month ago. While things are going well, I wish the stitches would dissolve. I’m tired of having to wonder what movement will pull on them.

I got some good news today. The student loan website that used to be inaccessible is now accessible. I’m going to give myself a pat on the back for playing a part in getting another company to follow the law.

For my birthday, I got a basketball with bells inside to help me track it better. I also got a net that helps rebound the ball back to me.

I love playing basketball again. Yes, I suck. But I enjoy the challenge of trying to suck less.

When I got the hoop last summer, I hoped playing would be like it was when I was a kid. With the more accessible balls, yes I got a second one, and the rebounder net, I may even like playing more now.

With the first Democratic debates behind us, I’m starting to get excited about the campaign. I will write about that in a subsequent post. For now, I will say any Democrat will win the presidency.

The Fourth of July was always something I looked forward to enjoying. Recently, it has become something of a problem around here. Scorpio is very afraid of noises. Over the last few years, his fear has become so intense that certain noises literally scare the piss out of him. Someone started lighting them off tonight. It’s going to be a long nine days for Scorp.

That’s what I have for now. I hope all of you are well.

I'd love to hear from you.
