I Don’t Have Cancer

Yesterday I had the long-awaited major surgery on my right eye. As the title says, I don’t have cancer!

The entire orbital implant was removed. The surgeon found lots of scar tissue and confirmed a major infection. I’m in a little bit of pain, but the medicine is helping. Given what we now know about pain medicines, I’m already reducing the frequency of which I’m taking the pills. I will take only three today.

I have a follow-up appointment with the surgeon on Monday. I’m hopeful of returning to work on Tuesday. Barring something unforeseen I should be able to do that.

I went to the emergency room for bleeding in my eye more than four months ago. But I’m finally on the road to recovery. The new implant is one that should last the rest of my life. If that turns out to be true, the painful recovery I’m working through now will have certainly been worth it.

Finally we have gotten a bit of good news.

I'd love to hear from you.
