This post has updates on Ufi, Aunt Barb, and me.
Ufi
Ufi is still hanging in there. He has been a bit slower the last couple of days, but he still takes his morning walks. Yesterday afternoon, he played with his beloved ring for a few minutes.
Even though he’s slowing, Ufi is very likely to be celebrating Thanksgiving with us. I have been hoping to have one more holiday with him for weeks. So, this is potentially a very exciting development.
Me
I have been doing much better with my exercise and sleep. Coming into today, I have met my exercise goals for 12 of the previous 13 days. The only day I missed was when I had to review applications for a position we are looking to hire at work.
My goal has been to get my exercise habits going strong again by the end of the year. After the holidays, I will work at doing better with my consumption. So far, the exercise goal is going very well.
As I have written about many times before, I have had a lifelong battle with insomnia. I used to think it was related to blindness. Now, I’m thinking it’s related to Mom. Neither of us keep a good schedule.
Lately, though, I have been doing better than I have in a long time. Being me, it’s a weird schedule. Usually, I’m falling asleep before eight PM and waking up around three AM. Some days I vary a little from that schedule but not by too much.
Obviously, that’s not an easy schedule to keep. But I’m getting more rest and being more productive. So, I’m going to go with it and see what happens.
I finally got the stitches out of my eye. I’ll be getting yet another new prosthetic eye in early December. While I’m not happy about having to pay for a new prosthetic, I’m looking forward to what will have been more than a six-month ordeal coming to an end.
Aunt Barb
We had a bit of a medical scare with Aunt Barb. The good news is that things turned out pretty well. Given the way this year has gone, it was easy to expect the worse. But we dodged that bullet.
I’m glad Barb’s okay! And if you find you can’t get back to sleep, try the 4-7-8 breathing exercise. It helps me a lot. Take care!
