Today marks two months since I last actually went to work. It has been an interesting time.
This weekend, we got a new driveway installed. Even though you never want to spend that kind of money, there are times it’s unavoidable. The old driveway was literally falling apart. There were several big cracks that kept getting larger. Even worse, it wasn’t flowing correctly. So, rain water was going toward the house, not the street. Now, we have a new driveway that should keep the water flowing the right way and last for hopefully 20 years.
In addition to the driveway, we had the step going into the house replaced with a ramp. This was worth doing because the ramp was a small part of the cost and it makes the house a bit more accessible. In a few days, Ufi will appreciate the ramp. Aunt Barb, who likes reminding us she’s old and crippled, will also enjoy having the ramp. Eventually, Mom and I will appreciate it too. When you have a house, it should be about making it a home.
Last October, I wrote about the need for us to get a new furnace, As a part of the project, we also got a new AC unit. Again, it wasn’t cost prohibitive to simply replace the heating system.
Since the weather had already turned colder and rainy, we never tested the AC. Given the issues we wound up having with the heating system, I was afraid the AC may not work.
Yesterday, Portland broke the record high temperature for the day. I was thrilled when the aC activated without a hitch. It has run well for the last two days.
I kept telling Mom how much I was looking forward to this weekend. It was going to be a beautiful weekend. I was going to get to shoot lots of baskets.
Friday evening, my basketball hit something and popped. I had only used this one for two days. The other ball I had also popped. Since I really need basketballs with bells in them to play on the artificial grass, I wound up not being able to play this weekend. Now, they are saying it’s going to rain most of the next seven days. While I wait for new balls to come, I will hope the nice weather comes to stay.
That’s all for now. I hope everyone is doing well and making the most of what we have to face.
