This update discusses this blog, my exercise., and my job.
This Blog
I haven’t updated several of the pages on this site in a few years. While I have been farily regularly posting content, the main pages have not been updated. So, I’m going to start rolling out new pages over the next couple of weeks.
I’m also feeling like I’m ready to record more regular podcasts. Honestly, the end of Bernie Sanders’s campaign and all of the nonsense happening in politics today was discouraging. Ufi’s getting sicker, his death, and my battle getting used to him being gone, made it hard for me to care enough to podcast. But I’m starting to feel it again.
My Exercise
I have now met my exercise goals for 66 consecutive days. This week, I did 307 minutes on the elliptical. Summer, the motivation I’m getting from Ufi, and the ability to work from home have really helped me with my exercise. I’m a little worried as to how I will do when winter takes the ability to shoot baskets away on a daily basis, but I will cross that bridge when I come to it.
My Job
Sadly, I don’t believe I will ever reach my potential working for Portland. There are a lot of reasons for that. I better not mention them here. But I really don’t see myself reaching my potential or being satisfied with my ability to do the work I want to do and that must be done.
Obviously, the pandemic isn’t the best time to look for a job. So, I’m going to do my best and enjoy what I can. Unless something seriously changes, I will have to think about how to find something else. Finding work is never easy for a blind person. But I know what I’m capable of and I believe in what I have to offer. Portland has taught me the true value of working in the disability field. The difficulty will be finding somewhere that will let me use my skills to make the difference too many communities need made.</p.
