In the aftermath of Democrats passing their dumpster fire of a bill that fails to address climate change and the bipartisan giveaway to chip makers, politicians and their media can’t stop talking about political wins.
According to the media and the Democratic Party, the bill dedicating 46.1 percent of what the Pentagon will spend this year fighting climate change over a decade is a political win for Biden. The $280 billion corporate giveaway is a win for the idea of bipartisanship. Even the search warrant executed against Donald Trump is discussed in terms of political winners and losers.
But the sad truth is that whenever the corporate-owned government acts, the losers are the American people. Those interested in a better world never win in Washington.

The wealth and privilege of those in politics and the media gives them the ability to treat politics as if legislation is a game. Their wealth and privilege protects them from the consequences of their anti worker, racist, ableist, sexist agenda enacted at the behest of their corporate masters.
They don’t live in areas with toxic drinking water. They don’t live in areas that constantly flood. They don’t live in areas where air pollution is so bad children have a much higher risk of respiratory disease and where the life expectancy is years lower than most of the country. They can afford to send their children to college; they aren’t impacted by student loans and a lack of free college. They always have access to the best health care; they will never be denied coverage because their insurance won’t pay for something and/or they can’t meet a deductible.
Their wealth and privilege is so complete that they have the luxury of treating issues that are literally life and death to most Americans as if they are no different than betting on a football game or rolling dice for a fun night on the town. They will win some. They will lose some. Either way, they will be fine.
Their power is so complete that it makes no difference to their daily lives whether this or that bill passes. To them, bills that either destroy or save our lives are games. The only potential consequence to them for treating our lives as games is the threat that they will lose elections. But even if they lose, the winner is guaranteed to ensure their wealth and privilege is protected. The system is so corrupt and undemocratic that there is no chance anyone will get elected and achieve enough power to actually make changes that would be true wins for the vast majority of American people.
