Reviewing Thomas Perry’s The Old Man

Thomas Perry’s The Old man is the first book written by the author I have read. While The Old Man has some issues typical of its genre that make some of the plot a bit hard to believe, the book was entertaining and worth a read. I imagine I will read more by Thomas Perry in the future.

The old man is about a man in his early sixties who is running from his passed in military intelligence. At the beginning of the book, he is living with his two dogs in Vermont. After a break-in at his home resulting in his killing the men sent to kill him, the man’s decades-long life in Vermont is over.</p;>

Throughout the rest of the book, he takes on different identities and moves around to avoid being killed. Eventually, he decides the only way he will ever be free is to travel to Libia and kill the man responsible for trying to have him killed.

At this point, I’m guessing everyone knows how the story ends. And while the ending is a bit hard to imagine, the adventures the man has throughout the story are entertaining enough to make the predictability not a dealbreaker for this book.

If you enjoy adventures and you like unique characters, The Old Man will be worth your time.

I'd love to hear from you.
