Reviewing Easy Prey

Summary

This summary was generated by ChatGPT.

Easy Prey by John Sandford is a suspenseful thriller that follows Lucas Davenport, an investigator for the Minneapolis police, as he tackles a complex murder case that spirals into multiple investigations. The story begins with a glamorous party where model Alie’e Maison is found dead, seemingly from an overdose. However, it soon becomes clear that she was murdered. As Davenport and his team dig deeper, they uncover a web of deceit, jealousy, and betrayal involving high-profile figures and media attention.

The case escalates when additional murders occur, each connected to those involved in Alie’e’s life, pointing to a killer with a ruthless approach and possible ties to drug and sex trafficking. Davenport’s investigation is hindered by media pressure and political interference, but his dogged pursuit reveals hidden motivations and dark secrets among suspects. Sandford’s portrayal of Davenport as both skilled and morally complex adds depth to this fast-paced narrative, where each clue brings more danger and leads to a surprising resolution.

My Thoughts

I like the way the summary described Davenport as "morraly complex." In this book, Davenport is, in one way or another, considering his situation with three different women. One of them is, of course, a witness in the case and winds up playing an important role in the story’s ending.

Speaking of the ending, Sandford did the best job in creating a surprising ending than he had done in any of the previous books in the series. I really appreciated the way Davenport brought this to an end.

I'd love to hear from you.
